8K a year 22 hours ago 22 hours ago 22 hours ago The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for performing accounts receivable duties on a daily basis.
This role is part of a cross-functional team that ensures accurate and timely processing of cash receipts, payments, invoices, electric bills, including account and meter verification for accuracy.
Also responsible for reviewing and reconciliation of general ledgers that are directly impacted by accounts receivable functions, perform balancing and closing procedures.
This role interacts with multiple departments to identify, investigate and resolve payment application and billing issues.
The Accounts Receivable Specialist will be handling private member data such as, payments received via different methods (ACH, credit card, checks, etc.
), bank account information that requires a high degree of confidentiality and exceptional accuracy for data entry.

Duties and
Responsibilities:
Payments and insufficient payments processing, reconciliation of a general ledger and bank statements, preparation of deposit slips and occasional travel to a bank to make a deposit, balancing and closing procedures.
Maintain update of customer records.
Billing and invoicing for electric and miscellaneous charges, reconciliation of a general ledger and member accounts, balancing and closing procedures, update of rates.
Working cross-departmentally and directly with members to answer questions and solve issues, such as researching member accounts, updating delinquent meter readings, etc.
Working on special projects for implementation of process improvements and efficiencies, upkeep of training manuals, containing work instructions.
Become a subject matter expert in the area of your interest related to your job duties.
Working with external system application support group to figure out what the best practices are and how to implement them.
Attendance of training sessions to better yourself as a leader of an electric cooperative.
Occasional travel to conferences in utility industry.
Other duties as assigned by Corporate Accounting Supervisor.
Required
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED 4-years of related job experience (billing, invoicing, AR, etc.
) Excellent written/verbal communication skills and ability to keep privileged information confidential.
Ability to set priorities, detail and task oriented, organizational skills, respond to public inquiries, ability to multitask with frequent interruptions.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel, Outlook at an intermediate level.
Effectively utilize time and set priorities to meet changing deadlines, work in a fast-paced technological environment and ability to work under stress.
Familiarity with the use of standard office equipment such as phone system, printer and scanner.
Preferred
Qualifications:
2-year college degree in accounting or related field of study.
